I discovered this company/product at all places… a beach restaurant/bar… where they are trying to prevent underage drinking.
So it would appear – as a industry – we are turning a blind eye to the possibilities of using this same technology to help determine if the person in front of us requesting a controlled substance prescribed or dispensed.. is the same person that is presenting a driver’s license and/or the driver’s license presented is not a fake.
This could also work for NPLEx and PSE sales..
Imagine if this system was capable of sending the driver’s license information to the state’s PMP to get a report on a new patient with a Rx for a control med..besides we would be more assured that we are putting valid patient identification into the PMP..

Ah more fool proof technology. Three years ago, my legal age child was in NYC. A lot money had been invested in hotels, airline fares and theater tickets. My child was initially denied the ability to purchase an adult beverage because the out of state license would not scan. My child just happened to have a U.S. passport on their person at the time. The passport wouldn’t scan either, but the lack of acceptable ID was resolved.
