Do we really care about your health CARE ?

stevemailboxThis showed up in my inbox… from this three day story.. it would appear that this particular pharmacy made a days supply input error and it resulted in the insurance denying payment when the pt presented a new -on time – Rx to continue their therapy.. the pharmacy staff apparently discovered and admitted their billing error and apparently REFUSED TO CORRECT THEIR ERROR. It is very difficult to make a Methadone to Morphine conversion but 50 mg/day of Methadone would be in the ballpark of 250 mg of Morphine per day.  One can only imagine the severity of the withdrawal that this person is going to do thru.. not to mention the severity of untreated pain. If harm is caused to pt by a pharmacy by misfilling a Rx.. that is a accident and still could result in financial restitution to “make the pt whole”… what could the damage be if this pt is harmed by the INTENTIONAL ACT of refusing to correct a medication error. If you are reading this and you are a personal injury attorney.. I have this person’s contact information.. contact me.. I will make the introduction…

I know you speak with a lot of people & may not remember me but you gave me some good tips / advice a few weeks ago.
Now I have yet another question for you. This time, I cannot see how the pharmacy could get away with this & would love your input.
I’ve been using the same pharmacy since my accident (over 2 years ago). Because they knew me, always had my prescription in stock (even if I had to wait  one / two days) and I felt comfortable there; not treated like an addict.
As of January 1, 2015 That pharmacy (The Pharmacy at A Hospital) put new rules in place.
1. You must live within a 5 mile radius of the hospital
2. Must have Health Insurance (cannot self pay)
3. The prescribing doctor must be affiliated with the  Hospital

I had 2 of the 3 regulations. My Doctor had recently stopped practicing at Memorial.
So I switched to a PM Physician who was affiliated.
My first visit with said Doc was good. I like him. We have a plan for treatment. He wrote me a 2 week prescription (14 days) – I was to take 50 mgs a day & was given 70 (10mg) tablets .  5 a day.
Today was my 2nd visit, he did some injection treatment & wrote me a prescription for 28 days at 60 mgs a day- (the 50mgs a day was not quite getting me through a 24 hour period).

So I take my script to the Pharmacy & was told it couldn’t be filled because my Insurance would not accept until after 02/16/15. Another 7 days – Why? Because their records showed the last RX filled was for a 24 days supply.
After speaking with my Insurance Company to find out why they would think such a thing I was told that someone at the pharmacy enter the information which stated it was a 24 day supply – Which it was not.

I called the pharmacy & the technician helping me could see the scanned copy of the RX which clearly read 14 day supply. But someone entered the number wrong (A TYPO) & put in 24 day supply.

Still as of this moment, the pharmacy is saying it will have to wait until 02/17/15.
Even after admitting to me that it was their error. The supply date entered was incorrect.
I asked them to correct the problem so the insurance will cover it –

They closed before I could call them again.
If they do not make their mistake right, what is my coarse of action?
I am in absolute disbelief. After jumping through hoops for over a month & doing every thing they told me was needed to fill my RX without hassel, It seems to me that they are in the wrong.
BIGTIME!!!
If they entered the wrong info & I cannot access my medically necessary medicine aren’t they liable in some way. ???
I am so so angry, in tears & don’t know what else to do. I can’t seem to just survive.

02/13/2015
So today is the day I am officially out of my pain medication (methadone 60 mgs per day).
My PM Doctor was faxed a form from my Ins. Co. to fill out & state that it is Medically Necessary for me to take this medication / dose / strength / Diagnosis. He filled it out & faxed it back Wednesday (02/11/15). Yesterday they advised me that it would take 48 – 72 hours for the pre-authorization to be reviewed & approved. That’s if he stressed the urgency of the situation.
Then I asked for an “early refill override” – apparently that take 3 – 5 business days, so no point.
Basically If I had known the pharmacy intentionally entered it as a 24 day supply instead of a 14 day supply,  I could’ve had all documentation in place by now. I wouldn’t be out of pain medicine.

I just wonder what excuse they will dream up next month.
I don’t understand why it matters to them / why is it so important for so many pharmacist to deny the medication.
There are safe guards in place. They can tell that I only see one doctor & do not get various pain medicines prescribed to me.
They could even see that I’ve cut my dose by 30 mgs in less than 2 months.  I am obviously not a criminal or abusing the prescriptions.

I’m in for one hell of a weekend.

When the CRACKS in the system are big enough to KILL PATIENTS !

Emergency insulin could have saved man’s life

http://www.wkyc.com/story/news/health/2015/02/11/emergency-insulin/23276399/

He shouldn’t be dead.

Kevin Houdeshell. Thirty-six-years-old. Diabetic. Good looking boy next door, says sister, Amy Houdeshell.

“That one-in-a-million one a mother would love her daughter to bring home to the family,” she said.

But an expired prescription for insulin was his death sentence.

“He was young, fit, healthy. The pharmacy told him his script had expired, and ‘We’re sorry, but we can’t give you anymore. He tried three times to call his doctor’s office, and four days later he passed away from not having his insulin,” she said.

His family is on a mission now out of unthinkable unnecessary tragedy, joining forces with the Diabetes Partnership of Cleveland to let Northeast Ohio know what Kevin didn’t.

“They have an emergency insulin program,” Amy said. “And if Kevin would have known about that, he would still be alive today”.

Gone barely a year and Kevin Houdeshell’s legacy lives on in a big way that’s gaining momentum and money.

The Houdeshell family has raised almost $20,000 dollars and counting to fund the Diabetes Partnership of Cleveland’s emergency insulin program.

For them, Kevin is the face of many.

“I think of someone that we deal with every day at the Diabetes Partnership of Cleveland — people who need resources. People who need a hand,” says spokeswoman Cheri Collier.

For Kevin, it was an expired prescription, but there are several scenarios in which emergency insulin saves lives.

“People can break a vile of insulin. They may have a change in their insurance status. They may have a high co-pay. So we want to be there to help,” says Collier.

“It’s a life-sustaining drug — insulin. And he needed that to survive and to keep living, and, if you don’t have that, you.die,” Amy Houdeshell tells Channel 3 News reporter Dawn Kendrick. “The bottom line is the pharmacy and the doctor’s office failed.”

Collier explained, “The pharmacist can dispense a small amount. The problem right now is the amount they’re allowed to dispense by law is so small. Maybe there should be a different way the law is interpreted. They’re protecting the pharmacist’s license, I agree, but also we want to protect the clients, the patients, too. We want to help save their lives.

For the Houdeshells, it is an important life-saving message they want to shout from the mountain tops.

“Get educated on diabetes. You can die from this. My brother who was so young and so full of life. He should still be here today,” Amy said.

The Houdeshells are now calling on state legislators to change the laws in order to make it easier to get life-saving maintenance drugs in a pinch.

You can help. The Kevin Houdeshell Memorial Golf Outing is Saturday, June 27. Contact the Diabetes Partnership of Cleveland at 216-591-0800. Any contributions made in Kevin Houdeshell’s name go directly to the emergency insulin fund.

We – as a society – may have sunk to a new low.. a very low low…  Is our healthcare system become so focused on the “rules” .. the “regulations” that a person’s life has been lost because there are those in our system.. who don’t care/understand the consequences of being without many medications.. It is easy to Monday morning Quarterback what this young guy SHOULD HAVE DONE..
We have placed non-professionals and all too often poorly trained non-professionals that have become the “gate keeper” between the healthcare professional and the pt.  Their job is to answer the phone.. pass along the notes.. they don’t know – some probably don’t care about the health of the pt.. their job is to “paper shuffle”
The multi prescriber practice that we go to .. our PCP is a great guy.. the infrastructure/processes of the office varies from “sucks” to totally dysfunctional.  I have had attempts of getting a refill.. the pharmacy will fax twice… no response… I have left voice mail messages  – no response – I have called up the office manager – no response… I will fax and email the office – no response … I finally have to text the PCP .. trying to get xxxx medication refilled.. is there a issue… no response going thru staff … usually within a couple of hours.. the pharmacy gets the refill authorized… I think worse case has been close to 14 days..  If I had waited until I only had a few days meds left and it was a critical med – like insulin – I would have been screwed.
My money would be on that if a pt starting having a angina attack in front of a Pharmacist.. they would not feel comfortable giving the pt a NTG subl tab… nor someone having a severe asthma or allergy reaction in front them..would they reach for a Epi-pen and inject the pt. When SECONDS count… EMT’s are hopefully only MINUTES away.
We are suppose to be part of a healthcare “team”..but when the “team” is composed of professionals, JV’s, amateurs, and novices .. and the patient does what they are suppose to do.. and the professional level never knows what is going on.. some of those “cracks” are big enough to kill pts.

How To Select Best Dog Food?

Whаt ѕhоuld I feed mу dog? Thіѕ іѕ a question mоѕt people аrе concerned аbоut whеn thеу buy thеіr fіrѕt dog but it’s аlѕо ѕоmеthіng thаt requires a certain аmоunt оf flexibility.

A dog’s diet ѕhоuld bе nutritious аnd well-balanced аѕ a poor diet соuld hаvе a profound effect оn уоur dog’s health аnd аlѕо bе thе саuѕе оf behavioural issues. But dog diet must be given on the basis of age and breed. If you are having a adult dog then you must check guide to senior dogs on raw food.

Thеrе іѕ evidence thаt proves thаt giving children tоо mаnу sugary foods аnd soft drinks саn hаvе a detrimental effect оn thеіr health аnd teeth. I myself remember bесоmіng incredibly hyper аѕ a child аftеr drinking a саn оf sugary drink аnd unfortunately thіѕ саn аlѕо hаvе a similar effect оn оur dogs. You can get your dog trained and for faq on K9 check here to get a good trainer.

Alѕо foods laden wіth sub-standard meat, colourants аnd sugars соuld bring оn undesirable behaviour іn уоur dog ѕо іt іѕ important tо bе aware оf whаt you’re feeding thеm. A healthier diet соuld mеаn fewer trips tо thе vet, a longer life fоr уоur dog аnd lеѕѕ strain оn уоur pocket. The Georgia Pine provides board and train to help you train your dog and make them listen to you.

According to personal protection training from Dog Works, thеrе аrе mаnу different types оf dog foods оn offer аnd іt іѕ bесоmіng increasingly difficult tо know whісh tо choose. Thеrе аrе thе big brand names thаt аrе advertised оn TV, ѕоmе unusual ones thаt уоu оnlу hear аbоut thrоugh friends аnd family, thоѕе оn sale іn уоur local pet store аnd recommendations frоm уоur dog’s vet.

Aѕ dogs gо thrоugh mаnу stages іn thеіr life, іt іѕ important уоu buy food suitable tо thеіr growth (puppies), adult maintenance, gestation/lactation аnd senior (older dogs). Certain foods саn bе used fоr thе duration оf уоur dog’s life but рlеаѕе rеаd аll labels wіth care. And lаѕt but nоt lеаѕt, dо tаkе іntо account уоur pet’s lifestyle, аnу medical conditions thеу mау hаvе аnd thеіr environment.

Anоthеr question thаt іѕ оftеn asked іѕ ‘Should I bе feeding dry оr wet food?’ Thе simple answer іѕ whаtеvеr works fоr уоu аnd уоur dog but thеrе аrе ѕоmе basic principles thаt wе ѕhоuld аll bе aware оf whеn choosing thе food fоr оur best friend, аѕ thеу tоо саn hаvе a direct impact оn health аnd behaviour.

Nоw I want tо make іt clear thаt I аm nоt professing tо bе аn expert оn dog care оr hаvе studied nutrition tо аnу great degree. It’s оnlу thrоugh caring fоr mу оwn dog Lucy, thаt I hаvе bееn forced tо address concerns оvеr hеr food intake аnd thе effect certain foods wеrе having оn hеr behaviour.

I fіrѕt mеt Lucy аt thе Evesham Greyhound аnd Lurcher Rescue centre. Aftеr a series оf visits, I wаѕ allowed tо adopt hеr. I hаvе nо idea hоw lоng ѕhе lived оn thе streets but whаt I dо know іѕ thаt ѕhе іѕ a terrible scavenger. Having tо fend fоr herself оvеr a period оf tіmе obviously hаd аn impact оn hоw ѕhе behaved.

Lucy іѕ іn thе unique position оf bеіng totally food obsessed but extremely fussy. Thе countless tіmеѕ I hаvе lovingly prepared food, рut іt dоwn аnd watched hеr pick hеr wау rоund іt bеfоrе walking away аnd thеn sitting аt thе kitchen door wіth thаt expression оf ‘”So whаt еlѕе hаvе уоu got fоr mе then?”

I hаvе аlwауѕ bееn good аt leaving thе food fоr 5 minutes аnd thеn іf ѕhе hasn’t eaten іt, taking іt away. I wоuld invariably end uр throwing mоѕt оf іt іn thе bin. Thіѕ used tо really frustrate mе аѕ thе food wаѕ оf a high quality аnd Ã£50 a bag!

I hаvе аlwауѕ bееn good wіth Lucy іn thаt I hаvе nеvеr given hеr scraps оff thе table оr аnу ‘human’ food but hеr persistence tо wait fоr ѕоmеthіng еlѕе – waste оf tіmе thеrе – wоuld аlwауѕ gеt thе better оf hеr. I’ve nоw fоund a food thаt ѕhе actually gets excited аbоut аnd аlwауѕ finishes wіthіn 30 seconds flat!

Years ago dogs wеrе fed wet food whісh іѕ basically food уоu wоuld gеt іn a tin оr packet. Nowadays it’s аll аbоut feeding dried kibble оr a combination оf wet аnd dried food. Sоmе people аlѕо feed thеіr dogs a BARF diet whісh stands fоr Biologically Appropriate Raw Food. Thіѕ іѕ basically bones (not cooked), raw meat аnd vegetables еtс.

I саnnоt stress еnоugh hоw important іt іѕ tо remember thаt whеn choosing уоur dog food tо rеаd thе ingredients label оn thе bасk оf thе packet.

Ingredients аrе listed іn order оf highest tо lowest quantity. Sо fоr example, іf уоu ѕее thе fіrѕt ingredient listed аѕ wheat thеn уоu know thаt thе food іѕ predominantly mаdе uр оf wheat. I personally don’t think dogs ѕhоuld bе eating wheat аѕ ѕоmе саn develop allergies іn muсh thе ѕаmе wау thаt humans dо plus whеn wоuld a dog еvеr choose a plate оf wheat оvеr a steak?

Yоu really need tо bе seeing a pure meat listed аѕ thе fіrѕt ingredient ѕuсh аѕ lamb, chicken, beef, white fish оr salmon. Avoid meat meal оr meat by-products.

Wе оftеn ѕее lists оf ingredients beginning wіth meat meal оr meat by-products. Nоw meat оr animal by-products аrе basically thе parts оf slaughtered animals thаt don’t include meat. Fоr example lungs, intestines, brains, blood аnd spleen tо nаmе a fеw аnd nоnе оf thеm аrе ‘human-grade’ whісh means thеу аrе nоt fit fоr human consumption. Meat аnd bone meal іѕ аlѕо a lоw quality food wіth questionable sources. It іѕ аlѕо fed tо cattle аnd wаѕ оnсе cited аѕ bеіng responsible fоr thе spread оf BSE!

Dо make sure thаt thе food уоu choose fоr уоur dog doesn’t contain sugar. Dogs dо nоt need sugar іn thеіr food. Thе addition оf sugar hаѕ bееn added purely tо make thе food mоrе appetising but wіll dо nоthіng fоr уоur dog оthеr thаn possibly make thеm hyper, overweight аnd соuld promote problems іn later life. Additives аnd preservatives аrе аlѕо a no-no.

Sоmе brands like tо add colour tо thеіr food іn order tо make thеm look mоrе appealing, аgаіn thеѕе dо nоt dо аnуthіng good оthеr thаn possibly make thе dog over-active аnd mау еvеn bе carcinogenic.

If wе directly compare tоgеthеr twо different brands оf dog food wе саn ѕее quite clearly hоw muсh thеу differ. I won’t say whаt thе brands аrе but іt wіll illustrate thе points I’m making аbоvе. Remember thе fіrѕt fеw ingredients make uр thе majority оf thе food аnd thе percentages аrе аlѕо important.

If уоu look аt thе fіrѕt couple оf ingredients іn thе fіrѕt list bеlоw уоu wіll ѕее thаt wе hаvе cereal (above) compared tо de-boned chicken (below); meat аnd animal derivatives compared tо dehydrated chicken аnd de-boned salmon. Furthеr dоwn уоu саn ѕее thе food оn thе tор hаѕ added sugars аnd EC additives whеrеаѕ thеrе іѕ nо mention оf sugars, additives оr preservatives іn thе list lower dоwn. I know whісh оnе I’d rаthеr bе feeding mу dog.

Common Dog Food Brands

Cereals, meat аnd animal derivatives (minimum 4% fresh meat іn thе soft moist kernel, minimum 4% beef іn thе natural аnd brown kernels); vegetable protein extracts; oils аnd fats; derivatives оf vegetable origin (0.5% beet pulp іn thе natural аnd brown kernels); various sugars; minerals; vegetables (minimum 4% vegetables іn thе green аnd yellow kernels). Wіth antioxidants, coloured wіth аnd preserved wіth EC additives.

Premium Dog Food Brands

De-boned chicken (25%); dehydrated chicken (17%); de-boned salmon (10%); dehydrated turkey (7%); dehydrated herring (7%); russet potato; pea; sweet potato; deboned turkey (3%); whоlе eggs (3%); chicken liver (2%; de-boned lake whitefish (2%); de-boned walleye (2%); alfalfa; pea fibre; chicken fat (2%); organic kelp; pumpkin; chicory root; carrots; spinach; turnip greens; apples; cranberries; blueberries; liquorice root; angelica root; fenugreek; marigold flower;sweet fennel; peppermint leaf; chamomile; dandelion; summer savour аnd rosemary.

Nоw уоu mіght think thаt thе second оnе іѕ a bit оvеr thе tор but it’s аll аbоut a happy medium аnd іf уоu dо hаvе аnу behavioural issues wіth уоur dog ѕuсh аѕ hyper activity, іt mау bе worth looking аt whаt іѕ іn thе food thаt уоu аrе feeding thеm.

In thе ѕаmе wау thаt wе humans look аt whаt іѕ іn thе food thаt wе eat wе ѕhоuld аlѕо dо thе ѕаmе fоr оur dogs.

It’s аlwауѕ a good idea tо try using thе food оf уоur choice fоr ѕіx tо еіght weeks tо ѕее hоw іt affects уоur dog. Thе things tо look оut fоr аrе a shiny coat аnd a pet thаt looks healthy. If thе dog іѕ producing a large volume оf stools оr develops diarrhoea, hе mау hаvе problems digesting thе food. If уоur dog hаѕ skin, ear, joint, оr оthеr problems, try аnоthеr food tо ѕее іf there’s a connection

Obviously natural meat, fish аnd vegetable ingredients аrе good аnd wheat, sugars, colourants аnd additives аrе bad. I hаvе just scratched thе surface hеrе but I hope thаt I hаvе given уоu ѕоmе things tо think аbоut аnd аt lеаѕt make уоu look аt thе food thаt уоu аrе feeding a little mоrе carefully.

Thеrе іѕ a great site whісh уоu ѕhоuld hаvе a look аt whісh lists mоѕt оf thе different brands оf dog food available. Thеѕе аrе еасh analysed іn turn аnd given a star rating frоm 1 tо 6. Hаvе a look аt whеrе уоur food іѕ categorised аnd іf it’s dоwn аt thе bоttоm thеn consider moving uр tо a higher rated brand. Yоu mау ѕее a great difference іn уоur dog’s behaviour аnd thеrеfоrе experience a trouble free relationship.

California Cancer Patient Suing California for the Right to End her Own Life

http://www.raredr.com/articles/California-Cancer-Patient-Die-Dignity

According to a Reuters report, a 53-year-old person with leukemia and living in California is suing the state for the right to commit physician-assisted suicide.

The patient, Christine White said in a statement:

“I am suing the State of California to remove the legal barrier between my doctor and myself to help me achieve a peaceful and dignified death, at the time and place of my choosing.”

Ms White has been battled cancer for seven years, first non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma and then leukemia, which is currently in remission.

Ms White stated:

“If and when the leukemia returns, I want to have the option to ask my doctor to aid me in my dying.
“I don’t want to die in a hospital, I’ve seen too many of my friends in the cancer patients’ community die that way.”

The lawsuit was filed on her behalf by attorneys for the Disability Rights Legal Center. Five San Francisco doctors who support physician-assisted suicide werw also named as plaintiffs.

As we stated in an earlier article, cancer patient Brittany Maynard moved from California to Oregon, which is 1 of only 5 states (including Washington, Montana, Vermont and New Mexico) that authorize death with dignity (doctor assisted termination of life). In Oregon, Brittany legally obtained a prescription cocktail that she used to end her life last November.

Has law enforcement became all about fines and cash flow to the FEDS ?

NEW YORK – New revelations are emerging that could implicate Loretta Lynch, President Obama’s attorney general nominee, in the world’s largest banking scandal.

As a result of HSBC agreeing to a settlement requiring the international bank holding company to pay the U.S. government more than $1.2 billion in fines for money laundering, Lynch’s office agreed in return not to press criminal charges against any bank employee of the U.S.-based HSBC subsidiary.

This is the nominee to replace AG Holder…

This woman… testified before the Senate hearing that she was not aware of the DOJ’s “Operation Choke Point”.. yet her district was the highest amount of assets forfeitures and now it comes to light that she facilitated a 1.2 billion fine in place of “corporate crooks” going to jail.

Is the law .. or has the law become … allow about the flow of money into the federal coffers ?

WSVN-TV – 7NEWS Miami Ft. Lauderdale News, Weather, Deco

http://www.wsvn.com/story/28098093/customers-caught-off-guard-during-armed-robbery-of-dania-beach-walgreens

DANIA BEACH, Fla. (WSVN) — A simple trip to a South Florida Walgreens turned frightening for two people who found themselves staring down the barrel of a gun, and it was all caught on camera.

Jessica Young was already paying for her items. Jon Pawlowski was headed inside to buy some ramen noodles for his wife. Neither of them, however, expected to come face to face with an armed robber, Sunday evening.

Surveillance video caught the hooded robber as he entered the Walgreens on Sheridan Street.

Young said she had no idea what was taking place until the weapon was waved in front of her. “[The robber] turns around and points it [the gun] at my head,” she said.

The shocking experience left Young thinking she would die. “It was a real gun. I’ve seen fake ones; this was a 9 mm automatic,” she said.

Upon entering the venue, the robber is seen going straight to the cashier, where Young had just paid for her purchase. He then dumped her bagged items and ordered the store employee to place money from the register into the plastic bag.

For a second time, the robber would point the weapon at Young, threatening and instructing her to stay quiet. “He pointed it [at me] again and said, ‘Shut up, or I will shoot you,'” she said.

As the robber headed towards the exit, Pawlowski walked in, staring at his cell phone and completely oblivious of what had taken place. “This guy just starts shouting, ‘Get on the floor. Get on the floor. Get on the floor,'” he said. “Probably by the third ‘get on the floor,’ I looked over like, ‘Who the hell is this?’ and he has the gun, you know, just pointing right at me, to the point where I can actually see down the barrel.”

Seconds later, the robber bolted out the door, leaving both customers and the store employee shaken. “Very scary,” said Young. “We could’ve died. All for $300. That’s it, $300. Two people, three people could’ve lost their lives.”

According to Young, the subject was heavy-set, with a scar near his lip and with teeth that were not straight.

Civics 101 We the people

wethepeopleI hear from chronic pain pts and others with subjective diseases daily… not being able to get their medically necessary medications..

Some say that someone needs to sue someone… great idea.. except for the fact that you sue any of the BIG BOYS.. they have “hot & cold running attorneys” on retainer..  They would not think twice about committing tens of millions to try and financially bury anyone that tries to take them to task in the court system… and the case won’t see the light of day for minimum of five years.

A similar situation would evolve with our government.. if they don’t claim sovereign immunity  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sovereign_immunity_in_the_United_States

which basically means that our government can do whatever it damn pleases .. legal or illegal.. and it has no responsibility to anyone for its actions..  That being said.. the mission of the ACLU https://www.aclu.org/  is to sue the government when it breaks its own laws and our constitution against it citizens.

In this current administration we have seen the head of the IRS get by scott free with trying to intimidate non-profit groups whose political philosophy did not mesh with that of the administration.

Our current AG Holder has been charged with CONTEMPT OF CONGRESS..   NSA has been accused of monitoring about every piece of data that private citizens generate.. the list can go on and on and on … of miss-doings..  by high governmental officials.

All of these bureaucrats seem to have little memory of their oath to uphold the US Constitution…

We seem to be stuck with this two party system.. how many times have you heard someone say.. I voted for ……. seemed like the lesser of the evils.. Is that the best we can do is the lesser of the evils?

Just today it came out that Gov Rick Scott of FL.. seems to have changed his mind on participating in Obamacare http://www.myfoxtampabay.com/Clip/11083974/governors-evasions-coming-back-to-haunt-him  But why should he care about what pre-election campaign promises he made.. he can’t run again for Governor .. he is a lame duck.. and besides in four years if he runs for some other office .. the people will have forgotten all about his broken promises… and he will once again can “duck and weave” questions.

The same hold turn for Pres Obama… lame duck…

“The people” can write their elected officials and you will get back this nice boiler plate reply that MIGHT dance around the question you asked or the concern that you expressed.

This is my favorite satirical political ad from the last mid-term election. I think that it pretty much puts things into perspective.. In KY the recent McConnell/Grimes race spent 80 MILLION dollars to win a seat that has a salary of < 1 million over the next six years.

It is obvious by this ad.. and by the KY senate campaign that they firmly believe that money/advertising will buy elections. Maybe it is time for that to change.. Dollars don’t vote.. people vote..

There are 535 people that are the oil in the engine of the government.. that is 435 in the House of Representatives and 100 in the Senate. They control the purse strings of the US government.. and WE THE PEOPLE could control who are sitting in those seats.

In 22 months… 435 House members and 33-34 Senate members will be up for reelection… as well as electing a new President 🙂

All of those up for election are already focused on one thing.. getting reelected in 22 months. The closer we get to Labor day 2016.. the less they will pay attention to their basic job of running the country.

Remember… only people can vote.. not corporations… although there has been cases were dead people have voted.

Just like everyone of us fear the unknown… so do the politicians… there is a estimated 116 million chronic pain pts.. how many more with subjective diseases and how many healthcare professionals.. maybe 150 million .. if you don’t count their relatives ?

The last Presidential election only 126 million people voted and there was only 5 million between Obama and Romney  < 4% of the total vote..

How many of those 150 million voting people would like to see the DEA DE-FUNDED ? How many would like to see The Harrison Narcotic Act repealed ? How many would like to see MJ & MMJ made legal ?

I  understand that most all of the chronic painers are physically, emotionally, financially “bankrupt” and those in healthcare have the DEA over shadowing their license and their livelihood.  12 thousand DEA employees always looking to catch you at doing something wrong… even the most innocent mistake can be blown out of bounds.

If you could be assured that those things would happen .. would you vote for Mickey Mouse running in the “none of the above ” party?

WE THE PEOPLE could do that.. what we need is 6-12 people in each state to reach out to these incumbent politicians and their opponent.  WE THE PEOPLE generate the mother of all mailing lists and/or political blog/Face Book pages with the mother of  all number of “likes”.  Don’t have to even “like” the page.. just read it…

Those 6-12 people in each state approach the incumbent first.. tell him/her that they represent  a HUGE VOTING BASE and we tell incumbent that we want him/her to sign a pledge to do the items of things we want.. and that he/she will introduce or cosponsor and vote for such… and tell him/her that if he/she can’t sign a pledge that we will go to his opponent and ask the same pledge..  if he/she declines.. we vote the incumbent out.. just because we can.. and once in office we once again approach the newly elected bureaucrat.. this is what we want introduced… and if you don’t .. we put you in office.. we can take you out of office… don’t get too comfortable or make any long term housing commitments in the DC area.

After the election.. all we need is a couple of people to track each of these bureaucrats… what actions they take.. what bills they introduce… If they are good little public servants… we see that they get reelected..

You don’t have to show our AARP or NRA card.. just show up and vote.. for the politician that promised to agree with the wishes of WE THE PEOPLE.  If you are not registered to vote… do so.. register as a independent..

Remember… these elected officials are there to serve the people that voted them into office.. we are not asking for anything that should not be outside of the boundaries of common sense.. and if  YOU DO NOTHING …. YOU GET NOTHING…

It’s the company’s policy ?

This is very interesting… WAGS continue to make public statements that they cannot force a pharmacist to fill a Rx.. and that it is the professional discretion of each of the Pharmacist to decide to fill or not to fill. It appears to me that this Pharmacist clearly states that he is following COMPANY POLICY to not fill this Rx…  which would suggest that this particular Pharmacist has come to the conclusion that the company’s policy supersedes whatever his individual professional discretion would  be to fill or not fill this particular Rx.  It also seems to be stated by the Pharmacists that the decision not to fill this Rx is based on the fact that it is a controlled med and that the prescription was written by a prescriber whose practice  is in a different FL COUNTY.. Does this suggest that WAGS and its Pharmacists are discriminating against people who have a valid medical necessity for a controlled medication… and because most people requiring these specific medications… would most likely be covered under the Americans with Disability Act.. So it would appear that we have a FL licensed prescriber, and a FL resident.. trying to get a RX filled at a FL WAGS pharmacy. It would also appear that someone told the other WAGS Pharmacist that called the store that this store did in fact have inventory of this particular medication on hand… but.. this Pharmacist seems to make the statement that he doesn’t have the medication in inventory. So who is lying to this patient? .. and which one is a prick  or is only one a prick ?  Unless WAGS has changed their software system functions, one WAGS pharmacy can check the inventory in another WAGS pharmacy.. at least as it is recorded in the computer system.. which may or may not properly reflect what is on the shelf.

Battles Over Hospital-Wide Nurse Staffing Ratios Persist

http://www.healthleadersmedia.com/content/HR-312972/Battles-Over-HospitalWide-Staffing-Ratios-Persist.html

Unionized nurses and their supporters cite a clear correlation between staffing ratios and quality of care and are calling for new laws. But hospital associations say there’s a lack of conclusive data.

State health policy analysts in Massachusetts and Minnesota are fighting new battles in the ongoing war between hospitals and organized nurses over staffing ratios.

A law requiring 1:1 and 1:2 nurse-to-patient ratio in intensive care units went into effect in Massachusetts in September. But health researchers in Minnesota were unable to complete a study looking at the relationship between nursing levels and patient outcomes in their state.

Imagine that… healthcare professionals ( Nurses) concerned about staffing levels and the quality of pt care.  Pharmacists seem to take staffing cuts… while Rx volume is increasing and just tries to “run faster on the wheel”  Boards of Pharmacy, whose primary charge is to protect the public’s health and safety.. they are where ? and the Pharmacist in each Rx dept who is responsible to the Board of Pharmacy for the legal operation of the Rx dept… Doesn’t say anything about under staffing and med errors.

Makes one wonder where all the “care” is … in the community/retailing setting ..  because your health is everything and you wish to be well…??

Heroin deaths on the rise in Tampa Bay

http://www.wfla.com/story/28073721/heroin-deaths-on-the-rise-in-tampa-bay

I am beginning to wonder who held all of these people down at one time and forced them to start taking opiates… until the point that they were uncontrollably “hooked” on these opiates..

Did anyone notice in the film, the this young woman said she did a bunch of drugs and wanted to die … isn’t that a SUICIDE WISH ?  Was she doing drugs because of a mental health issue?.. was she trying to commit suicide because of withdrawal  ?.. because she couldn’t no longer afford her drugs ?
