DANIA BEACH, Fla. (WSVN) — A simple trip to a South Florida Walgreens turned frightening for two people who found themselves staring down the barrel of a gun, and it was all caught on camera.

Jessica Young was already paying for her items. Jon Pawlowski was headed inside to buy some ramen noodles for his wife. Neither of them, however, expected to come face to face with an armed robber, Sunday evening.

Surveillance video caught the hooded robber as he entered the Walgreens on Sheridan Street.

Young said she had no idea what was taking place until the weapon was waved in front of her. “[The robber] turns around and points it [the gun] at my head,” she said.

The shocking experience left Young thinking she would die. “It was a real gun. I’ve seen fake ones; this was a 9 mm automatic,” she said.

Upon entering the venue, the robber is seen going straight to the cashier, where Young had just paid for her purchase. He then dumped her bagged items and ordered the store employee to place money from the register into the plastic bag.

For a second time, the robber would point the weapon at Young, threatening and instructing her to stay quiet. “He pointed it [at me] again and said, ‘Shut up, or I will shoot you,'” she said.

As the robber headed towards the exit, Pawlowski walked in, staring at his cell phone and completely oblivious of what had taken place. “This guy just starts shouting, ‘Get on the floor. Get on the floor. Get on the floor,'” he said. “Probably by the third ‘get on the floor,’ I looked over like, ‘Who the hell is this?’ and he has the gun, you know, just pointing right at me, to the point where I can actually see down the barrel.”

Seconds later, the robber bolted out the door, leaving both customers and the store employee shaken. “Very scary,” said Young. “We could’ve died. All for $300. That’s it, $300. Two people, three people could’ve lost their lives.”

According to Young, the subject was heavy-set, with a scar near his lip and with teeth that were not straight.

  1. I’d just like to mention that medical cannabis has helped many who suffer from PTSD.
