This is a letter sent by a mature RPH to his/her BOP on the east side of the country…
I am posting it without any further comments …except this RPH does not appear to be a “happy camper”
A sad day today for the MA BOP and all the people in MA. Sadder yet for
their victims, and their families, which we serve faithfully every day and must never forget about.
Maybe that’s what happens to bureaucrats, they forget about service to the
community and pander to the Pharma’s and corporate pharmacies
It is my opinion that these regulators, and I mean all of them, – board
members and inspectors- be held complicit in the negative outcomes because of their blatant failure to
properly do their job and their assigned task to protect the public’s health and safety…
IMO.. they also let down the other 45 state BOP’s that have issued NECC mail
order licenses and were apparently working under a confirmation bias that MA BOP
was doing its proper due diligence. which is the underlying cause why we have more than 300 victims in 17 states
and counting.
Like all the rest of us NON MANAGEMENT VICTIMS … at the counter, counting
to the management irresponsible and dangerous matrix…… when we have a
major bad outcome.. we are held accountable.
Corporate management, which includes RPH’s , are allowed to establish the
criteria for Rx dept work environment that can be the genesis of medication
errors and when bad outcomes happen… they are held harmless.
Today, when bureaucrats blatantly FAIL to do their jobs… there should be consequences. we have had
this discussion time and time again. Our practice acts need to be
revised to reflex how the BUSINESS of pharmacy is being conducted in the 21st century. I will contact our AG soon to discuss
how to assure we will be ready if tragedy such as this happens here
