Not everyone is on the same page

I hear about chain pharmacies that are literally bending over backwards to whatever demand a pt/customer makes… even to the point that if a pt/customers claims that the price is wrong or that someone else is selling it at a price that you know is wrong… It would seem that the philosophy of “the customer is always right” has been put on steroids..

Unfortunately, some businesses seems to think that placing obstacle after obstacle in front of a customer is a good way to operate a business…

This past week.. I went to the major “Club stores”… the one whose ownership is the same as the largest “BIG BOX” store in this country… probably world wide …for that matter…

Like many of you… my billfold is bulging with various cards – mostly  “frequent buyer cards”… and lot many of you… I  have started putting many of these cards on a “app” on my Iphone called CARD STAR… I have been doing this for months and all merchants have accepted this form of ID.. in  place of their formal card…

THAT IS…  until I tried to enter this particular “CLUB” using the digit image – including bar code- of the their “membership card”… I was promptly told that management did not accept a digital image… you had to have the “real card”… luckily I had not removed this from my billfold yet… but .. apparently this company has so much business that they can afford to potentially turn away customers… unless they meet the “exact standards” put forth by the company..  This company – IMO – is the GRANDADDY of  companies using electronics and computers… but I guess the 21st century technology is only good for them to use… others need not bother…

Then I tried to transfer monies from our brokerage account to our ROTH accounts for funding for 2013…  Our brokerage account is titled as a A/B Living revocable trust for my wife and myself.. All of these accounts are at the same brokerage house… At first… tried to do the transfer the money on line.. the system did not allow that… so conversation with a company representative… form had to be filled out.. and signed by both me and my wife.. in order to be able to transfer the money… and fax the form in… A separate transfer to a  Roth 401K.. required a separate form.. again signed by both of us… of course the first form faxed in “disappeared” in the system..  had to be repeated…

During all the conversation with the brokerage rep… I asked the question… this brokerage account has check writing ability… and I asked… what would happen.. if I sent you a check.. signed by me – and me only – to make the deposits in these ROTH accounts …what would happen… the answer was .. they would be accepted and deposited and the money transferred without any further involvement.

So it would appear at least with this company… as long as you still wish to function as if you were in the 19th or 20th century.. they would be good with that… try to function in the 21st century and one gets finished feeling like
