The (s)hit(s) keeps coming…

From the article:

CVS, for its part, blamed the practice on rogue drugstore managers and insisted that the company’s official policy was that customers are always asked before being enrolled in ReadyFill, the chain’s refill program.

and if you can believe this…  Mike DeAngelis has nothing to say !

Mike DeAngelis, a CVS spokesman, declined to answer when I asked what steps the company has taken to reduce incidents of people being enrolled in ReadyFill without their permission.

He said only that customers can call (800) SHOP-CVS, or (800) 746-7287, to report any prescription-related problems.

David Lazarus has written about this before ..  as recently as Oct ,2012  http://articles.latimes.com/2012/oct/19/business/la-fi-lazarus-20121019

You people who work for these chains… you need to start documenting where all of these edicts come down from… because – in all probability … the company’s response – to cover their own ass.. it so fire those ROGUE MANAGERS… unless you can prove that the edict came from “up-stairs”… you will get flushed down the tubes… without any recourse… not only that.. you will then have been marked as a rogue manager and who wants to hire a rogue manager/trouble maker/loose cannon..

We all know how those German soldiers from WWII fared when they used “I was just following orders” to justify/defend what they did….

  1. So now we have hour long conference calls bang in the middle of a super busy Tuesday! Is it legal to keep the pharmacist away from bench for that long, or have him sufficiently distracted to verify a rx incorrectly? And ofcourse on the call is the ever repeating msg. Dont transfer to Walgreen right away. Tell them that you will call back in an hour! Is that Legal to withhold a patient’s rx and delay it for an hour before transferring?

    • There is such a thing as violating a pt’s freedom of choice particularly with Medicaid & Medicare. Don’t know if harassing a pt to not move their business violates this or not ..would have to contact CMS/HHS for one of their investigators to determine. If you are offering gift card to stay… That may be considered a bribe or inducement which is illegal

  2. They can call all they want or even if you listen to the phone call fully to the end where it says press such and such if you wish to receive no more calls it doesn’t work. If there is a phone number is the system you will keep getting calls no matter what. They just come up with a different reason or new metric to measure that requires a physical phone call from the pharmacy and not an automated call, but still, they will come up with anything to get more scripts filled to get more money. It’s a rat race and I am particularly tired of it, I am already exhausted after having to work on my feet for 13 hours and no break and be expected to interact and talk to every customer that comes thru the door. Than go home crawl in bed just to do it all over again the next day. It’s day in and day out just complaint after complaint, I got a call for this or that and expect me to be a mind reader of why.
