New pharmacy school class – how to dodge bullets in the pharmacy

Another reason… why students should pick another major…

Pharmacists need to ask themselves the question… what has my employer done to protect the Rx dept staff from robbers ?  If  the only enhancement is to put up video camera to hopefully ID those who would rob/kill/harm the Rx dept staff…  Does this suggest that the value of the employees’ life in the Rx dept is less than the value of having a “fish bowl” Rx dept environment?

  1. I cannot remember which state, but one state was proposing having 2 teachers in each school to carry a guy. Of course, the teacher would be thoroughly trained in its use. Take for example a Wal-Mart store. They have security people, but none of them carry a gun. That big store has no one in it carrying a gun. Anyone could come inside and rob not only the pharmacy but the whole store! Recently, I read where a guy killed his parents, brothers and sisters, and was planning to go to a Wal-Mart and shoot a bunch of people. Can you imagine how many people could be killed in a Wal-Mart store before the police arrived? But, these corporations are more concerned about an employee with a gun and that employee shooting someone and them facing a lawsuit than they are about protecting the employees. All these businesses are just ‘sitting ducks’ for robbers. What good are these cameras if a robber shoots and kills the employee? That camera sure did not protect the employee.
