Does writing your Federal Senator/Rep really matter ?

If you write (email, letter, fax) to your Senator… each state has two senators and the largest state (CALF) has 39 million people and the smallest (Wyoming) abt 600,000.  So who believes that either one of your Senators reads the correspondence sent to them ? House members represents anywhere from 500,000 to one million  https://simple.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_U.S._states_by_population

How many times have you or read about someone sending correspondence to a member of Congress concerning the “war on pts” and getting back a form letter addressing the opiate crisis ?  I suspect that each member of Congress has a database of what their constituents have contacted their office about.  What if that database keeps track of the “form letters” that have been sent out. So if the staff member that is answering the letters the office receives replies with a form letter on the opiate crisis and the database has another “mark” about a constituent concerned about the opiate crisis and has nothing to do about the war on pts

Years ago, I sent a letter to my Federal Representative expressing my concern – in favor of – about a particular issue… a short time later I got a letter from their office agreeing with my position of my Fed Rep suggesting that he was in agreement of being in favor of the issue… a day or two later I got a second letter from this office … stating that my Fed Rep was in agreement with my position of BEING AGAINST the particular issue that I wrote about.

The lobbyist industry spends 9+ million/day trying to influence the 535 member of Congress.  If anyone has noticed… lobbyists exerts their chance of influencing a member of Congress … by using their powers of persuasion IN PERSON.

People need not waste their time contacting members of Congress that represents people outside of your district or state…  If you have ever listen to politicians, they often will state that they are in Congress to “represent the people in my state”.. whatever state that happens to be.. If you attempt to contact them, your opinion is of no concern to them.. if you live outside of their district or state.

If you want to get the attention of a member of Congress that doesn’t represent you… about a issue that you care about …  make an appt to talk to them in person and bring a CHECK for their re-election campaign.

You don’t have to go to Washington DC to talk to your member of Congress in person. Often, when they are back in their district they will set aside some time to talk to people they represent. Call their district office and see when Congress is in recess and they will be back in the district and if they have set aside days/times to talk to constituents…  Make an appt and you may get 10-15 minutes one to one time with your Congressional Representative.

  1. Thanks for the good advise Steve. I especially agree with Voting the bums out! All of them.

  2. The one thing that will help stop this madness is one or more of them end up in our shoes and is in the same if not worse pain. This happened to my brother that is just getting over his first back surgery. I’ve been through 3 spinal surgeries with two fusions. When I first got hurt they thought I was faking. I have worked around these representatives and congressman on the hill years ago before I got hurt. While I was having lunch at his home I asked him how to get something accomplished, he said go straight to the top, our conversation was cut short by a phone call from the White House!

  3. Another related issue that no one but myself seem to mention is that after the Reform and resulting “shortages”, my ADHD medication was so toxic, inauthentic, and misrepresented, as to require ongoing medical attention from adverse effects like severe edema, weight gain, and heavy metals poisoning. Never in my medication lifetime have I ever needed to return one, (no less 15), and never had I filed both formal complaints, including many to state representatives. I also have an anxiety disorder which has been triggered constantly from the continuous shock and awes to my physiology from the onslaught of poisons like synthetic Arsenic convertly put into the misrepresented meds. When I requested an Anxiety medication for my full blown anxiety disorder I was told that I can ‘t have it because the CDC says that it’s Addictive. My pain medication is altered as well, I was forced to return one brand as it nearly caused an Aneurism. I have become more disabled and hopeless than I have ever been in my life. I can barely write a coherent letter, am isolated, and my only sister has late stage Lyme disease, and the non profit advocates were told by government not to help us-as to make us become more “resilient”. As if to add insult to injury, the former administration said that “it’s against the law to kill oneself, (as if they would apprehend a ghost). I sense very strongly that there are more Shocks to come, never a reprieve from this calculated Abuse and Endless Torture.

  4. I have written letters via mail & email to my local/State representatives Harper, Cochran, Wicker, my state AG (who by the way is currently urging insurance companies to no longer cover opioids and who was also the first in line to sue the pharmaceutical companies – like our old AG Mike Moore sued Big Tobacco back in the 90’s andwho’s nephew died from an illegal fentanyl overdose), my Gov. Philip Bryant , AG Sessions, and President Trump. I only received two responses via email. One from Trump’s admin advising me to contact a crisis hotline and provided a toll free number, and an email from Mr. Harper’s Health Advisor thanking me for my support. No response addressing my concerns and issues relating to how the current restrictive opioid prescribing policies where harming me by limiting my access to effective treatments. I guess when your receiving millions in federal grant money to combat the fictitious “Opioid Epidemic” and looking for a huge windfall to replace the cash that’s drying up from the tobacco companies, my struggles are of no importance.

  5. What other things can we do to persuade them to help us, other than giving them money? Many CPP’s are now unable to work because of the laws that are being passed. If we’re unable to make a financial donation, what else can you suggest that we offer?

  6. I wrote my senator 13 faxed pages calling for help regarding Toxic misrepresented medications, and Lyme disease. No acknowledgment. I called over one month later, was told it was received and sent to Washington.

  7. Thee only good it has done for me is,,I have legal proof,,I TRIED,, to do it the legal way,,,Ive been asked a couple of times from various human rights organization,,”Have u tried contacting your senator etc?I reply yes and they want a copy of the letter or email,,Soo it helps to take away another ,”step,” to go thru to get legal help for this insanity,,maryw
