This video appears to be a video made by a parent of a 16 y/o that had back surgery and the surgery was done in the Duke University healthcare system. I had a heard a couple of years ago that Duke U had implemented a little/no opiate policy.
I can’t imagine a surgeon only willing to talk to a 16 y/o pt and won’t speak with the Mother. And according to this Mother the surgeon – or someone from the staff – would return a call after a couple of days from leaving a VM.
I suspect that if a parent – or anyone – intentionally inflicted pain or harm a child, I would expect that child protective services or cops would be looking for them… but… medical professionals seems to be exempt from being held responsible for a child being intentionally abused.
When is our society going to stop accepting/tolerating that pts being intentionally put in or left in pain without any consequences.. At least back in the 19th century, pts got a tree branch to chew on and bottle of WHISKEY.

Having two spine surgeries some 26 years ago myself, i feel very bad for this Mother having to watch her child ….suffer. in pain. I am a native N. Carolinian and unfortunately have experienced the cold, uncaring attitude from Duke hospital physicians when our son had knee surgery scheduled at Duke. Our son injured his knee and the surgeon at a small town hospital in the city we live stated that the injury was not severe and One surgery would repair the injury. After TWO surgeries and twice he died during the second surgery from a “slight” knee injury. his knee was destroyed because the surgeon was incompetent… period! It became so infected he had to move back in with us, his parents, so we could treat him at home for the infection.. Incidentally he was RELEASED from the surgeon that destroyed his knee WITH A SEVERE INFECTION, MRSA. WE talked to the “head” ortho surgeon at Duke and he accepted our son for treatment after seeing his x-rays and admitted that our Son’s knee was a “DISASTER”, but refused to go on record for his observation of the knee. Another physician at Duke treated him for the infection for months and finally OK’d him for surgery. The day of surgery his knee was “opened up” ready for the ortho surgeon and was closed back because of still, severe infection. To shorten the story he was RELEASED from DUKE from ANY further treatment and because he was refereed to two specialists, one in Boston and one in Fla, we could not sue their asses. We found a surgeon in Charlotte NC that took his case and stated he would do the best he could with the disastrous knee, After more months of infection treatment the ortho doc in Charlotte kept his word and did the best he could., Our son was NEVER healthy, well again. He was27 years old at the time of his knee injury. Our Son died about a year and a half ago at 41 years old. He struggled with his knee for 14 years. He fought hard and suffered 24/7. His death was stated from a heart issue. We believe that .he died from Covid with the MRSA complicating his health. We pray for this young man, the Mother and family. ONLY advice I can give is NEVER GIVE Up! Ask questions. If you have to, GET LOUD! GOD BLESS and good wishes. .I wish we had been MORE forceful. .
