With Guns, Suicide Is the Biggest Problem

From article:

ORLANDO — Every day, 88 people die from firearm-related injury; two-thirds of those deaths are suicides, a high proportion of which are committed by seniors and individuals living in rural areas, researchers reported here.

Cooke said isolation, combined with alcohol or other substance abuse and ready access to a gun, was a trifecta often seen in reports of suicide.

That is 21 K deaths a year.. the DEA can’t use these stats … as death by drug overdose .. although substance abuse is a common denominator.

According to CDC… they claims that there is 100 deaths daily from drug overdoses..  http://www.cdc.gov/homeandrecreationalsafety/rxbrief/

But the stats appear to be a little skewed..  out of the 36,000 deaths:

These drugs (legal opiates) were involved in 14,800 overdose deaths in 2008, more than cocaine and heroin combined. AND ..

More than three out of four people who misuse prescription painkillers use drugs prescribed to someone else.

Imagine that.. Isolation (depression) in combination of alcohol & other substance abuse could lead to suicide.

So it would appear that there are 3700 people die of a drug overdose is abt 925… that may  be a accidental overdose.. and not a suicide.

I know that 925 is a unfortunate number.. but.. compared to the 36,000 that the DEA keeps putting out there.. would seem to be stretching the “real facts” a tad bit.

Does it just me that it  seems plain to .. but.. DIVERTERS are a very large part of the problems and yet the bureaucrats steadfastly ignore that healthcare professionals need to validate the Driver’s license. SSN that is given us. Could it be.. that if we were granted this very simple function.. would force law enforcement to go after those that are distributing ILLEGAL DRUGS ?
