People have been made to think the opioid withdrawal is not a big deal w/ many (including some medical pros) thinking that it is proof that the person was abusing & addicted. Many also look at withdrawal as a way to punish the person so that they will not want to ever go through it again & will keep them away from drugs.
What people are not being told is that opioid withdrawal can also kill as patients that have been taking it for a very long time can go into withdrawal shock; which can lead to massive heart attacks, strokes, suicide, & death!!
I was forced off once & ended up in the cardiac ICU for over a week because the withdrawal caused my heart to stop twice & I had a stroke that damaged my vision & my short term memory! All because my doc, who was a pain specialist, thought dependence & addiction was the same thing!!
Regardless if you are a legit/compliant pain patient or someone that suffers addiction; withdrawal is very serious & even deadly & should NEVER EVER be used to punish those that suffer debilitating, life changing medical conditions!!!
