AND “They’re off” – RIP

andtheyareoff

It has taken less than 24 hr for the various news channels to race each other as to who was going to be first to speculate on Prince’s death.. racing to reach the conclusion that his death was somehow related to a “drug overdose”.

Reportedly that he had “hip problems” .. so could he have been a chronic pain pt ?  Could he have “over done it” at a concert trying to meet his fans expectations and trying to “push the pain back” and took one dose too many ?

He appeared to be a very private introvert. Had the pressures of preforming and managing his pain become too much to deal with ?

We may never know the truth behind his demise.

  1. He had hip replacement surgery some years ago due to the damage from the vigorous choreography of his shows. I am not be surprised if he was receiving legit pain medication. Everyone remember when Billy Mays, the OxiClean guy died? He died from a heart attack, yet because the toxicology found a trace amount of cocaine…the media et al spun it as he ‘must’ve had a cocaine problem and that caused the heart attack’ Yet the family asked for a second autopsy which disproved the cocaine theory and his medical records indicated he had a history of heart issues….but no one heard about the second autopsy on the national news….only about the first one.

  2. It does not matter what he did from because you can bet your ass that Dr. Drew will link it all back to RX drugs, just like he did w/ many other stars that died, even though their deaths had NOTHING to do w/ RX drugs!!!

  3. As I am reading this tonight one of my favorite shows is going in the background Anthony Bourdain Parts Unknown , Tonights episode is about heroin Addiction in Massachusetts ???

    • That is also one of my favorite shows. Please tell me that his show is not being used by the propagandist network on which it airs?

As you probably know as a long time fan of AB, he is either filming while drinking or complaining of his wicked hangovers. (He is most miserable in Muslim countries where alcohol is banned.)

AB also is very open about his past cocanie and heroin use. I’ve also heard him complain of his back pain; thankful for the existence of vicodin.

Perhaps as a person who was formerly involved in the pursuit of chasing the dragon himself, it pains him to see the devastating effects to both the addict and those who love the addict. And he has full creative control of his show and wishes to highlight the harm of drug ADDICTION. That would be perfectly understandable.

But since he is a person who enjoys a certain level of fame, he obtains vicodin for his back pain without the hurdles faced by John Q. Pain Patient.

John Q. Pain Patient wouldn’t be prescribed opiates of any kind given his past drug addiction and current excessive alcohol consumption. John would likely be denied even tramadol and flexaril for his back pain. He would be diagnosed with opioid use disorder and given NASIDs. If AB only knew…..

  4. Yet another side to the Drug War Propaganda Machine, is the politics of Envy.

Celebrities get to hire the best lawyers.

They break those annoying blue laws and consume prohibited substances, because, well, they can. Indeed, they give substance abuse it’s panache. Their fans’ weird love-hate relationship, is that fans of a drug-abusing celebrity wish they had the same privileges. And wish they could be as famous as the celebrity. But know that they cannot have that privilege. And envy the celebrity whose habits they wish they could afford.

Which is precisely why dead celebrities gain so bloody much attention. One can simultaneously hold both contradictory beliefs!

–on one hand, the Drug War people were right. Janis Joplin took too much of her drug of choice and died…

–but on the other hand, she could sure belt out “Me and Bobby McGee” when she was loaded.

That’s quite the mental trick. Simultaneously being for and against both sides of an argument, while feeling strong emotions, and never actually making any decisions that require choice.

I just have one question. What would all these media fools say, if The Artist Formerly Known As Prince, were shown to have gotten an angina attack and his heart simply stopped? You know, if he died of something ordinary that any of us could get? Would we still feel the same thrill of babbling about it? Would we really feel superior to it all? Perhaps the nerdy kids who read the chemistry textbook and didn’t cut class, and ended up with healthcare-sector jobs, weren’t as lame as they seemed in tenth grade.

  5. Why waste time speculating about the death of a stranger…Our energies need to focus on ourselves and other Pain Patients. Once the suits have his death figured out…even if he was a CPP, so was Dick Trickle and others who have died in the limelight. But, NO ONE CARES…

    • It is really not about me nor about you individually… it is about ALL PTS WITH CHRONIC DISEASES… not just chronic pain.. if we continue to allow those in political power to decide who is worthy of receiving treatment for certain disease issues and those who should be denied treatment. We also need to call out those in the public eye that tend to jump to conclusion and speculate on the death of pubic figures and keep repeating those speculations until many tend to believe that they are indeed facts.

  6. The fact that he was an extremely talented musician, multi-instrumentalist, artist and performer, that his music was substantial on so many levels…from the superficially salacious and naughty lyrics, steeped in double entender, to the deeper esoteric means that were there if one took the time to look, the complex arrangements and orchestrations, the spectacular stage shows and especially how his music touched a few generations, changing outlooks, perspectives and even a few lives, dare I say.

Nope, that is all going out the window, across the rooftops and gone because after all ya can’t let a good piece of agitprop go like this when it adds so much more mileage to a twisted agenda that the people who presume to rule over us want to hoist on the masses of ignorant hoi polloi that have been created in our land over the last 50 years. This current chapter of the century old “War on Drugs” is the manifold alphabet soup of federal and state bureaucracies’ attempt at being proactive…not at preventing unnecessary suffering and death, but rather seeing the handwriting on the wall that the evil herb, Cannabis, is going to be at the least decriminalized and most likely legalized in the very near future in this United States.

There goes the cash cow that funds the DEA, the various and sundry other law enforcement agencies, departments of correction, et. al. Now they need a new mission to justify their wholly useless existence. Prince will be chalked up as just another statistic and why all the folks in dark suits or body armor and toting battlefield weapons are here from the State and are here to protect and serve the crap out of you.

If it seems that I’m a little worked up, it’s because I am. I practice pharmacy to pay the bills (out of the dispensing world though, thank my Creator), but if I have to define myself in one word, that word is Musician. That’s what I’d rather do as a full time vocation.

For Prince and his death to be abused in this manner is unconscionable. If it were Jimmy Bob Johnson from up on Bald Hill Road that died under similar circumstances, he’d be relegated as just another number in the prevaricative statistical compilation that is being used to drive this. Because it is Prince that died and he was a well known and loved artist and musician…well that’s worth 10,000 Jimmy Bob’s and the propaganda machine, aka the media and the government agency liaisons, are going to milk this for all it’s worth because they know that Joe and Jane Sixpack will eat it up and get in line to help fight the war on opioids and anyone who has a need for them as medication, recreation and any other use, good, bad or indifferent….because all those folks are all criminals…some just haven’t been arrested yet.

  7. Some people are perfectly happy and stable mentally as introverts. While social things are good the entire mentality lately has put wayyyy to much stock into it and uses it as an excuse to diagnose a drug problem out of a pain problem for which one is taking medicine. Either way he doesn’t deserve people digging in to his theoretical “problems.” Noone does. He was a good person and inspired many people. Can we all just leave it at that? I wish we could.

  8. If he even had the proper dose in his system the media will spin it way out of proportion. Why aren’t they concerned about the people dying from heart failure or strokes due to being denied proper pain treatment?
