One of the “Grandaddies” of Pharmacists bloggers (http://www.jimplagakis.com)  posted today that he got a “threatening” phone call.. here is a quote from the post…

The real reason for this post is an after 9:00 PM telephone call that came to my listed land line number.

A deep voice (like DEEP THROAT) said, “Cease and Desist.  You are warned.”

What the fuck?  I laughed, “What are you a lawyer wannabe?”

“Very funny.  You can get too cute, Plah GAY Kas”

“That is Plu Ga (like in GAS) Kiss.”  I laughed again.  ”Who is this?” I honestly thought it was a friend (Paul Trusten) yanking my chain.

“Just cease and desist with your blog attacks.”

All righty then!  Who could this be?

A few weeks ago … another “Granddaddy” of Pharmacist bloggers (http://www.drugmonkey.blogspot.com/) was fired by his employer RITE AID.. If  RITE AID believed that firing DRUG MONKEY was going to silence him… boy were they mistaken..

Over the last year .. the number of active Pharmacist bloggers has EXPLODED…  and the most active ones are neither happy a bunch nor out there discussing appropriate drug therapy or compliance issues.

For those of you … who are working for some of these “corporate bullies”… doesn’t make any difference what industry you are in… you need to start reading your policy and procedure manuals and sending emails to HR/CCO/Legal when management of the corporation are not following their own rules .. .or those mandated by the Feds or the states.

If you are a Pharmacist… particularly a PIC… you better start memorizing your PRACTICE ACT… with the surplus of RPH’s growing.. expected to continue for at least another 5-6 yrs… they have no reason to be lenient on your actions that is contrary to your practice act. Remember, 75% of the BOP’s have the same corporate managers that is making your work life hell.. they know they have people waiting to take your place… they have little reason to justifying you keeping your license or discourage the BOP from suspending your license for months/years.

Don’t forget… that many corporate pharmacies will not hire any Pharmacist that has had a action against their license by a BOP…
