bandaidYesterday Gov Pence said NO NEEDLE EXCHANGE PROGRAM !  In this video he assures people that test positive for HIV.. that they will able to sign up for Indiana Medicaid program and treatment.  Estimated LIFE TIME cost to treat a single HIV pt is > HALF MILLION DOLLARS..  So when the short-term needle program stops.. will the epidemic return ?

He ordered the state health department to set up a command center to coordinate HIV and substance abuse treatment and establish a mobile unit to enroll people in a state-run health program.county with 79 confirmed new infections since January.

The HIV outbreak in Scott County, Ind. is now being called an epidemic by Governor Mike Pence.

Indiana bars needle exchange programs, but Pence authorized a short-term exchange on the advice of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and other health officials.

The state has launched a public awareness campaign to focus on drug treatment, infection prevention, safe sex, needle disposal and HIV testing and treatment.
