Obviously no company policy about “packin” !

I bet a lot of potential robbers in this area… are thinking twice about what pharmacy they are going to rob next… Apparently this fellow is not up on the news that chain pharmacists are not ARMED… per company policy !

The more aggressive they get.. the more stupid mistakes ?

Okra mistaken for marijuana during pot search

CARTERSVILLE, Ga. –

A Georgia man says drug suppression officers mistook his okra plants for marijuana.

Dwayne Perry of Cartersville tells WSB-TV that he was awakened by a helicopter flying low over his house Wednesday and then some heavily-armed deputies and a K-9 unit showed up at his door. They were from the Governor’s Task Force for drug suppression and they were out looking for marijuana plants.

Last week it was buying fertilizer …  Be Careful buying that organic fertilizer

this week it is GROWING OKRA

A Epidemic is just what you want to make it ?

Heroin Deaths Still Rising, CDC Says

http://www.medpagetoday.com/PublicHealthPolicy/PublicHealth/47920?xid=nl_mpt_DHE_2014-10-04&utm_content=&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=DailyHeadlines&utm_source=ST&eun=g578717d0r&

stupidNCHS released its final 2011 data a few months ago, showing that heroin overdose deaths jumped about 45% in just one year — from 3,036 in 2010 to 4,397 in 2011. The 2012 NCIPC data, which are based on information from death certificates, show heroin deaths in these 28 states soaring from 1,779 in 2010 to 3,645 in 2012.

The DEA is busy harassing its registrants (wholesaler, prescribers, pharmacies).. fining and seizing assets to help fund their operations.. while this ILLEGAL DRUG becomes more readily available on the street… I guess it is just too dangerous going after armed crooks selling Heroin.

Of course this is a epidemic… but the CDC never does press releases about the 16 K that die annually from hospital acquired MRSA… because staff fail to WASH THEIR HANDS … don’t hear about that EPIDEMIC ?

Pain never killed anyone ?

A veteran whose pain was dismissed as a muscle spasm by a Goshen VA clinic is now suspected by doctors at IU Medical Center to have an aggressive form of cancer.

Veteran Erik Olson has been hospitalized with what doctors suspect may be an aggressive form of soft tissue cancer. Olson’s family says his condition worsened after the VA Goshen Community-Based Outpatient Center dismissed his pain as a muscle spasm and failed to conduct tests or scans when he visited the clinic in July. CVS punished for misleading product packaging

http://abc7news.com/shopping/cvs-punished-for-misleading-product-packaging/335914/

CVS will pay almost a-quarter-million dollars for misleading customers into believing they were getting more of a product than they really were, using false bottoms or false sides in its packaging.

Action News has obtained court documents detailing the investigation and final judgment against the Rhode Island-based pharmacy giant. It says CVS mislabeled 11 products under its own brand. Investigators found the company misrepresented product sizes or quantity “by use of oversized and non-functional slack-fill and/or false sidewalls and /or false bottoms,” according to the documents.

The packaging violated California business and professions codes and health and safety codes.

In September, Rep. Trey Radel voted for Republican legislation that would allow states to make food stamp recipients pee in cups to prove they’re not on drugs. In October, police busted the Florida Republican on a charge of cocaine possession.

CVS Pharmacy Director of Public Relations Mike DeAngelis said in a statement the safety and well-being of the customers and employees is the highest priority for the company. “We have security policies and procedures in place at all of our stores and we regularly review them to ensure effectiveness,” DeAngelis said. “We do not comment on the details of our security procedures because we do not want to undermine them.” DeAngelis said they are working with authorities regarding the robberies.

Apparently there is no reason to comment on security procedures.. BECAUSE THE CROOKS KNOW WHAT THEY ARE !  and at the rate CVS stores are being held up.. the security procedures ARE NOT ENOUGH !

Too many prescriptions — too little staffing ?

More “feel good” resolutions passed ?

This resolution was passed last year… has anyone seen any BOP’s taking action in putting limits on metrics and quotas ?

http://www.nabp.net/news/performance-metrics-and-quotas-in-the-practice-of-pharmacy-resolution-109-7-13

Resolution No:109-7-13
Title: Performance Metrics and Quotas in the Practice of Pharmacy
Action: PASS

WHEREAS, a survey conducted by the Institute for Safe Medication Practices (ISMP) of 673 pharmacists revealed that 83% believed that distractions due to performance metrics or measured wait times contributed to dispensing errors and that 49% felt specific time measurements were a significant contributing factor; and

WHEREAS, performance metrics, which measure the speed and efficiency of prescription work flow by such parameters as prescription wait times, percentage of prescriptions filled within a specified time period, number of prescriptions verified, and number of immunizations given per pharmacist shift, may distract pharmacists and impair professional judgment; and

WHEREAS, the practice of applying performance metrics or quotas to pharmacists in the practice of pharmacy may cause distractions that could potentially decrease pharmacists’ ability to perform drug utilization review, interact with patients, and maintain attention to detail, which could ultimately lead to unsafe conditions in the pharmacy;

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the National Association of Boards of Pharmacy (NABP) assist the state boards of pharmacy to regulate, restrict, or prohibit the use in pharmacies of performance metrics or quotas that are proven to cause distractions and unsafe environments for pharmacists and technicians; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that NABP review and propose amendments to the Model State Pharmacy Act and Model Rules of the National Association of Boards of Pharmacy to address the regulation, restriction, or prohibition of the application of performance metrics and quotas that are proven to cause distractions and unsafe environments for pharmacists and technicians.

(Resolution passed at the NABP 109th Annual Meeting in St Louis, MO)

Do we really need 24 hr pharmacy ?

Most pharmacy robberies happen in the wee hours of the morning.. and these stores typically have TWO EMPLOYEES in a store that can be 15,000 sq ft or larger. When SECONDS  count.. cops are only MINUTES away.
