Out of touch with reality ?

Stacking the deck and seeking perfection ?

I read comments on other Pharmacist’s blog and comments on my blog.. when the concept “the customer is always right”.. was coined the customer had a certain “rational ” about what they wanted or expected. That rational -IMO – has been replaced in a growing number of customers with a attitude of entitlement, narcissistic, demanding and impatient. At least in the chain store industry, we don’t even try to educate the patient/customer on what is realistic expectations. Of course, if all we do it try to accommodate the asinine expectations.. we are going to FAIL at times..

Crazy Rx Man.. recently blogged about the different attitudes about people from different parts of the country  http://crazyrxman.blogspot.com/2014/04/oops-sorry-lady.html

Is this what happens when the bell curve, common sense & metrics collide ?

Recently, I was talking to a cashier at a local grocer store that is part of a large chain.. The cashier was telling me that a customer WANTED HER FIRED.. because she had dropped one of the apples that the customer was purchasing. The cashier offered to send someone over to get another apple to replace the one that was dropped. Apparently that was unacceptable to the customer. Luckily the management of the store saw that the customer’s expectation was totally IRRATIONAL.

Apparently rational that this  management  had.. is not universally shared by others in management in other corporations

Today this showed up in my email .. to make my point

  1. Not the way to manage people. What an engaged team they must have.

  2. Guess they’ll be printing more gift cards 24/7.
