  1. Only 5% of US decedents are autopsied. But 100% get a cause-of-death.

    Cause-of-death is a bureaucratic category, not the conclusion of a scientific investigation. Whatever the coroner or medical examiner puts on the form is the individual’s cause-of-death. There is no requirement that there be evidence to support the conclusion. There is no appeal, if the cause attributed to your loved one is inconsistent with the facts of that person’s life and medical history.
