Fine tuning only goes so far !

You know that no matter how humans tries to “fine tune” or generate more out of the same or less.

Can you imagine something having more focus on the “fine tuning” and attention to detail than to a drag racer.. something that has to put out 100% for only a few seconds to be able to win a race.

I guess that you could call all the things that have changed over the last decade or so in the work environment of the typical Rx dept.. Computers, faxes, IVR, e-Rxing, refills via website or refills, robots, auto refills and increase in the number of Rxs filled to justify one tech man-hour as “fine tuning” the pharmacy system

How far away is the “world of pharmacy” becoming like the dragster in the above video ? I suspect that the dragster in the video may have suffered a failure of just one part.. which cascaded into a complete and devastating collapse of the dragster’s complete structure.

Here is the court documents of a Alabama CVS Rph that has won a age discrimination (EEOC) and liable/slander claims against CVS… this was preceded by another CVS RPH’ in the same Alabama district that won a age discrimination lawsuit against CVS.. with a award reportedly of 400,000.

There is a whistle blower lawsuit proceeding in PA… there are rumors of 6 former CVS RPH’s in a SE state that have engaged one law firm.

WAGS got hit with a 80 million dollar fine from the DEA .

There has been a handful of investigative reporters in some major media markets that have done exposes on the med errors in pharmacies.

There is the $15,000 fine against Rite Aid for a RPH refusing to give a HIV + pt a flu shot.

Now there are rumors of DEA fining CVS in California.

There is information coming out of Florida of chronic pain pts filing ADA discrimination violations for RPH’s refusing to fill legit, on time control meds.

If you are one of those Senior Rph’s that has found themselves shoved out the door.. for no or nebulous reasons… you are not alone.. and you have only 180 days to file that EEOC claim. There is a growing amount of evidence that it is SOP for CVS and other chains.. to start cutting higher priced Senior RPH’s.. and they are stacking the documentation .. so that the RPH will not be eligible for unemployment.  Remember all that good will with the company that you thought that you were amassing.. by being that good company Pharmacist ? Don’t look now… that “good will” that you thought you had built up …. it is a mirage..
