If you have your head stuck in the sand.. they can still kick your ass !

headsand2This is another comment made on my blog by one of my “regulars”.

http://www.thepetitionsite.com/takeaction/891/682/672/, can you believe some have posted that they were afraid to sign this petition for pain care? Have read about a suicide Christmas day of a young woman that could not handle the pain and burden any longer. I agree-great post. Thank you for being the only pharmacist willing to help me in my 10 years of illness.

YOU DO NOTHING … YOU GET NOTHING …  How is that working for you ?

  1. After 20 years as a R.N. I thought my life was going great. My home was almost paid for, had rental properties, some savings and 2 children. I became ill and it was decided that my gall bladder had to be removed. This was 2 years after a acute bowel blockage from adhensions from a hysterectomy. I was released from hospital while I was in the bathroom vomiting. Symptoms continued so the same surgeon decided to humor me-exact words -with exploratory lap after a year of tests and appointments. Found to have a 75% blockage from adhensions that caused me to lose 30% of colon. That led to IBS. Then constant gastritis and heartburn because the bile is draining directly on the stomach wall. Then I was diagnosed with the painful I.C. along with the misery of constant bloody urine and the frequency of every hour. Next my herniated disc ruptured. The fusion did allow me to roll over but the nerve roots were damaged. Now I try to live with the constant pain of pheriphral neurapathy and sciatica. I have spent all my savings and lost the rentals. I use to be able to attend the grandkids ball games until the pain clinic cut my medication 1/3 because they were scared of the DEA. Now I go to the pain clinic every 30 days and am basically stuck in bed since I can’t sit or stand for any length of time. The pain medication allows me to survive but this is not a life. Yes I have tried the physical therapy, tens units, braces and even forced into the useless painful expensive dangerous injections. I am the one that went to the 6 pharmacies in one day trying to get pain medication filled. Not a single pharmacist even bothered to see if it was time for a refill. My regular pharmacy refused to order for me saying that they were not allowed to. I do the drug screens without being able to wash my hands or flush until its handed in. Now I am doing mail order. Narcotics don’t make me high and I have never committed a crime. I know that others are worse than me and I am blessed that I have medication to keep me walking. I am 59. I am grateful for your Information and help in the chronic pain population. I can’t figure out why there is not a focus on the dealers or the ones committing crime.
Fortunately my diseases aren’t fatal but the pain could be.
