South Indianapolis pharmacy facing lawsuit over improper record keeping

The government is suing the company for failing to act as a gatekeeper over potent painkillers and narcotics. 13 Investigates shows you why the U.S. Attorney is demanding action over improper record keeping and other technical violations.

The U.S. Attorney’s office says despite the technical violations, no criminal activity was detected and the brothers have agreed to step up the record keeping. If they comply, the U.S. Attorney will recommend a $100,000 fine as part of a settlement. If they don’t, the lawsuit will stand and even higher fines are possible.

Under the lawsuit, the Marwood Pharmacy could be ordered to pay up to a million dollars. A potentially costly lesson for the Abu-Mahfouz brothers and a message sent to pharmacies all across central Indiana.

I’m going to go out on a limb here and guess that the message was……….
Filling schedule II medications (oops, meant NARCOTICS) are going to be more trouble than they’re worth. SO….why don’t you guys wise up and get w/ the ‘unofficial’ official program (Refusal to fill and turning away the disabled? [The writing is on the wall]

For 38 total technical ‘violations’ w/out criminal intent, a $100,000 fine (or 1.3 million) seems a bit high no? If the pharmacy filled 100 Rx per day (total guess) this would amount to roughly.001% of all total prescriptions.
Any indie pharmacists want to guesstimate how many prescriptions are filled at a pharmacy of this size in an area like Central Indiana? Better yet what percent these fines would be compared to avg net revenues using your pharmacy’s net revenue #s [? ] I’m going to go out on a limb and guess that the 1.3 million fine would put the brothers out of business?. $100,000? Not so sure but excessive for the infractions listed..

Any ideas on how this information came to the attention of the DEA? Are 30 fraudulent prescriptions a lot for a pharmacy in a year? Am I being naive to believe that a number of mistakes like this are going to be made at ANY pharmacy no matter the size? Please share to help educate those not in the biz on the impact these actions can have on small business owners.

The elimination/neglect/marginalization of genetically inferior and/or non-productive sub-populations (including the disabled) when put together w/ increased actions mostly associated police states (unauthorized surveillance [NSA], warrant less searches (Oregon/ACLU vs DEA, asset seizures/fines),, rampant corporatism over citizen representation all point in one direction; a serious move away from republican democratic institutional values, liberty, and guaranteed rights ……………..and towards fascism.
