From the article:

The pattern of disease has changed and the rate of new cases has slowed sharply – just 43 in the five weeks since Jan. 7 — but the end of the outbreak could still be weeks off, according to Tom Chiller, MD, deputy director of the CDC’s mycotic diseases branch.

“I don’t think we’re done seeing cases,” he told MedPage Today, “but I do think we’re at the tail end of the curve.”

This week the CDC is reporting a total so far of 707 cases linked to the outbreak, including 47 deaths.

Is this just an example of the collateral damage that can be caused by taking short cuts and rushing things thru ?
