Is your personal health & safety priority one at that big chain pharmacy ?

I found this posted on another FACE BOOK page.. apparently from a Pharmacist that works for one of the major chains.. From Pharmacists that I have talked to… this is not isolated to just this single chain pharmacy…but is a industry wide problem… and putting the pt’s health at risk is just the cost of doing business..

found out today that I would be shorted 2-3 hours of pay per week because Corporate Villains Suck decided to shorten their pharmacy hours… To be conservative, let’s look at this as 2 hours per week I lose… 2 times 52 weeks/year = 104 hours I will no longer be paid for… Take that 104 hours times my pay rate… = WTF!!!… Figure it as 3 hours and it REALLY sucks… So… In the interest of this in mind, I thought I would try to accomplish all the work I’m expected to do in 1 day in a 13 hour shift instead of my 14 hour shift… Add to this, the fact that I tried to bring my technician hour schedule down to what my employer says I’m allowed to use per day for my technician help… I am here to tell you… IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO GET EVERYTHING DONE WITH WHAT THIS COMPANY GIVES YOU TO WORK WITH!!!… It cannot be done!!!… I worked til 10:07PM tonight and I STILL wasn’t finished with everything that needed done in the Rx dept… Now imagine me closing at 9pm… 1 hour less than what I usually do… WTF, WTF, WTF… So is this safe?… Is this something patients need to know about?… The general public should be concerned… Shouldn’t we say something about having the worker’s right to do what is right to keep our patients/customers safe?… Feel free to make your opinion known about unsafe working conditions… And when I say unsafe, I mean “unsafe for you”…

  1. Our hours were cut to 35 per week over a year ago. You are delusional if you think anyone gives a hoot. The very first question a customer asks is “How long will it take?” An important metric is “satisfied with time to fill.” The extra techs who were working during the flu season must have been moving at warp speed because we never saw them.

When I go to the carwash, not one person complains about the 20 or so minutes that job might take. One person is focused only on cleaning my car. He is not answering the phone, talking to anyone, or working on more than one car at a time. If he leaves streaks on my window, I will not die or be harmed. Yet we are expected to verify prescriptions with countless interruptions. We are also told to open 2 windows at the QV station: one to verify prescriptions, the other to call doctors and pts for adherence calls in those few seconds between prescriptions. Am I the only person who sees something wrong here?

Anyone thinking of pharmacy school should abandon the idea quickly. You will spend 100’s of thousands of dollars to gain a wealth of knowledge that you will rarely use. Your employer will care only about your “scores”. You will end each day praying that you have made or missed any mistakes.

  2. Which Facebook group is this? I would like to join. Thanks

  3. Corporate villains suck!!!! aka CVS Bwahaha, I almost spewed! Sadly the skeleton crew scenario is a nationwide problem. A local grocery store clerk told me they have the same problem. The military is even doing it. Forcing folks out before their retirement (selective early retirement board) It is a sad state of affairs in my opinion. Sucking each employee/enlistee for every ounce of blood essentially. Always stressed about having to try to accomplish the impossible. 16 hours of work just can’t be done in 8. No wonder the United States has such a high rate of depression and heart disease
