As explained by Regulatory Focus last year, the bill would make changes to the US Drug Enforcement Agency’s (DEA) scheduling process under the Controlled Substances Act (CSA). The 1970 law is, along with the Federal Food, Drug and Cosmetic Act of 1938, the backbone of drug regulation in the US. Specifically, the law permits DEA regulators to “schedule” drugs they believe might be misused or abused.
So the it would appear that the scheduling of medication by the DEA is devoid of FACTS.. just OPINIONS … how scientific !

  1. JB, it’s possible that his illness requires the medication. I currently am under medicated. Sounds like you are too. I personally believe that medication should be between the patient and the doctor without government regulations. I spent 3 hours on phone about the need for reauthorization for my pain medication. 3 phone calls and 3 different answers. My diseases aren’t curable but manageable. I use to be able to go to grandchildren’s ballgames until the fear of the DEA caused my medication to be cut. I can’t stand without pain, sit or sleep. As you say 24/7 is a horrible life but honestly know others are worse and that is heartbreaking.

  2. Well a friend of mine is on Fentanyl, oxycontin and some other morphine based drug. His doctor has him so drugged up he sleeps all day. And never even gets up to use the bathroom. Think that qualifies? I get a doctor who is an ex-bartender and thinks 10mg of oxycodone is going to have me fall asleep at the wheel. 1 wonders how I can still be awake! What? BTW, it’s 1 a day. You would think that they…pharmacists and/or doctor would cut him down. I know it’s about finding the doctor but this is drastic. I wouldn’t want to be in a heroin like coma all my life. Bad enough 24/7 pain is here.
