If you can’t tax them… sue them !

Chicago and other cities have sued the tobacco industry, the gun industry and now the drug industry..

What they are questioning …

Among other things, the inquiry is seeking to determine whether companies deceptively promoted opioids as safe and
effective in the treatment of chronic pain, such as low back pain and arthritis, despite a lack of evidence to support those claims.

To prove safe is every prescriber going to have to administer the S.O.A.P.P. test before prescribing a opiate ?… To try and isolate those pts that may have addictive personality potential ?

Just ask a chronic pain pt, that is properly dosed with a opiate, if they are effective.

The DEA has fined WAGS and Cardinal and now cities are going after the Pharmas that produce opiates… Is this replacing the war on drugs that the DEA has been so unsuccessful with over the last four plus decades?

I can remember my Organic Chemistry Prof in college… walking around the lab stating “don’t throw the baby out with the baby”… regarding the chemical reactions that we were doing… Are our bureaucrats trying to “kill” the baby and only dealing with “the bath” ?

How many chronic pain pts are going to be forced on Medicare/Medicaid because they cannot get adequate therapy.. so that they can maintain a job?

Sounds like the definition of myopic to me !

  1. Since we can’t imprison the so called offenders, The big pharmaceutical companies will be called on to pay big dollars for creating the Tx so beneficial to most and detrimental to the few. Now even tramadol has gone the way of the CIV designation. Some oversight is needed, but the slippery slope is snowballing.
