Have bureaucrats jumped to a conclusion with false facts?

Here is a article from a TV station in NM. Either the doctor is lying about how many patients he see or the state’s PMP is full of forged Rxs in his name or both… What is interesting is that the representative from the state board commented that they had went back and checked all the entries under this prescribers name… That does not mean that someone has been forging prescriptions under his name and getting them past Pharmacists. All that means is that Pharmacists have been filling prescriptions for controlled substances that have been presented – or called in – using this prescriber’s name. I guess since government entities are exempt from being sued.. it is not really relevant if the statements they make are backed by less than accurate data. It is apparently well known that this prescriber sees patients from a large area… this is a RED FLAG for the DEA.
There are other incidents in other states that “the establishment” changed the direction of the war on drugs to using potentially slanderous statements to reduce the prescribing controlled substances…. Look at the state of NJ recent actions http://healthblog.steveariens.com/?p=351
and CVS’s recent actions http://healthblog.steveariens.com/?p=417
Has the war on drugs having to stoop to the point that they have to take fiction and imply that it is fact?
