Another case of the DEA not interfering with pts getting their meds ?

I would seem that nearly all the prescribers in this north west city… stopped prescribing … so this doc… picked up these pts… he told me that he had moved 50 or so over to MMJ because it is legal in this state. But .. once again.. a friend neighborhood Pharmacist – this time one that works for CVS .. decided that this prescriber was OVER PRESCRIBING and called the DEA… Of course, this same Pharmacist had no access to the pt’s medical records.  So apparently this particular Pharmacist came to his/her conclusion by reading “tea leaves” or has a crystal ball… Maybe even a MAGIC 8 BALL magic8ball

Time and again the DEA states that they are not doctors and they don’t want to interfere with legit pts getting their meds …

So “going after” a prescriber who is trying to treat patients … even if he has a few “bad apples” that have slipped in… so why don’t they take out those few bad apples… so that the vast majority of legit patients aren’t thrown into withdrawal and have to needlessly suffer in pain.

I guess the “prisoners” under this war on drugs.. are not entitled to same rights under the Geneva convention… as prisoners of other wars that we fight… but likewise NEVER WIN..

Our society got their “shorts in a bind” when they thought that we were torturing those in Gitmo… who were trying to kill us… to get information to help make us safer…

Is there something wrong.. with torturing those with chronic pain by taking away their meds.. and turning those that have mental health issues into criminals..?

  1. IMHO (and many others) those bad apples you speak about are just moving onto Heroin, I hear it’s easier to get and cheaper and every day you hear of many Herion deaths. What’s being done about this?
    Apparently they are losing the war on drugs so now they recrute (demand) the drs and pharmacist be on the front lines to do their job.
    Because drs don’t have the time or strength (nor should they) to deal with all the extra work and in fear of losing their license they are dropping patients like flies. Do I blame them? No but look who’s getting hurt. As for a pharmacist being able to decide at their discretion who and who will not get their meds. They have no idea about a patients history. Patients are suffering, dying and sucicide rates are gonna rise. This system is all wrong and it needs fixed!!

    • .the docs and pharmacists can only do so much…the larger much larger voice has to come from the patients….and very public….media, public protests, file.continued complaints against being discriminated against with state boards, ADA, state insurance commission. At the rate the DEA is going after docs, there won’t be any docs who will.want to write for a post surgery pain script or.cancer pain. (IMO…worst case scenario) and in the same breath they claim they are only regulators and not interfering with patients getting their meds….again IMO…LIE

      • I totally agree. The only way to fight back is to file complaints.
        File with the ADA which they make so easy to do!
        Simply email them at ada.complaint@usdoj.gov
        and include the following info in your email:
        A. Your full name, address, the telephone numbers where we can reach you during the day and evening, and the name of the party discriminated against (if known);
        B. The name and address of the business, organization, institution, or person that you believe has committed the discrimination;
        C. A brief description of the acts of discrimination, the dates they occurred, and the names of individuals involved;
        D. Other information you believe necessary to support your complaint, including copies (not originals) of relevant documents; and
        E. Information about how to communicate with you effectively. Please let us know if you want written communications in a specific format (e.g., large print, Braille, electronic documents) or require communications by video phone or TTY.

        Not only the ADA, but call and file a complaint with the offending pharmacy, as many times as you need to, and also with your insurance provider, if you have one.
        You file a “quality of care” complaint with your insurance provider for denied your meds at the pharmacy.
        If the pharmacy takes your insurance, they have a contract with your insurance provider which states that they are obligated to fill and bill your insurance for any valid, on-time prescriptions that your insurance covers.

        Being denied your meds can affect your health in more ways than you will ever know.

  2. I have not been able to get my meds since the 8th. I had a written script because I had surgery on the 15th and was not able to get my pain pills. Walgreens said at first doctor denied script which I found out was a lie. They didn’t have the meds and no one in the area has them. I had to get a prescription today for something else. Government needs to stay out of doctor/patient issues. I dread starting new med with a whole new set of side affects.

  3. I HATE the DEA ! They LIE ! They make false statements to journalists and against people and healthcare providers! They absolutely need to be investigated by the DOJ and Congress!
    How do WE??? make this happen? If anyone has any ideas? I sure would like to hear it.
    The Bull S is getting thicker with them, every day. How much harm do we have endure before somebody.. some group.. Some organization. can the answer on how to stop this crime?? Yes, I said crime. The DEA is not doing any Justice to innocent, compassionate doctors or suffering patients and OUR National Government is permitting this..
    I really HATE them and that is a strong word that I never use, but they are the exception!!

    This is NOT the USA I grew up knowing… Our Rights are going away!
    Please people start fighting back for your rights or we have any in near future.
