Walgreens to Provide Employer-Sponsored Health Insurance Through Aon Hewitt Corporate Health Exchange in 2014

Walgreens contribution toward the cost of health care benefits will be at the same level as it was the previous year, with employees choosing a health care plan that is personalized to their own individual and family needs. Plan options include three high-deductible health plans, a PPO and an HMO-style plan. With up to five carriers in each of the country’s 21 geographic regions, the range of pricing for premiums can be as low as $5 a month or less, depending on the region. These options can be particularly attractive to the 36 percent of employees who are single and under age 30.

With health care costs continuing to go up… isn’t “same contributions level”… this same thing as shifting all cost increases to the employees?

According to this article... ~ 13.5 % of the population is between 20-29 in 2000…  and 36%  WAGS’ employees are under 30 ???

  1. I don’t doubt that demographic. Most of their employees are part-time as well. Up until 26,they could be covered by their parents. Or Medicaid if they are single mothers. Note the “High Deductible” plans. AS LOW AS $5!! How does someone making $8.00 per hour pay the “High” deductible? Reminds me of the door-to-door insurance sales of Accident Insurance! Hospital Indemnity – $10 paid for each day that you are hospitalized!!

  2. Steve, not only are they under 30, but they are ” single and under age 30″. Can you believe that 1 out 3 of their employees is under 30 and at the same time single? That 36% sounds awfully ‘fishy”! Sounds more like someone is juggling the numbers or they are just too stupid to calculate. They probably have hired some folks from government. You know….those folks that give us the statistics about how low is inflation and about how wonderful the economy is doing.
