CVS Pharmacy Wants Workers’ Health Information, or They’ll Pay a Fine

According to this ABC News report… CVS is interested in having a “healthier work force”… except it would appear that they are only interested in their own particular work force.. since they appear to continue to sell tobacco and alcohol products… and other items that are “unhealthy”

It would appear that CVS is only interested in a healthy work force when it doesn’t affect their bottom line… I guess that we have to ignore that “healthy” people would have less prescriptions filled at CVS and via their Caremark division.

  2. Many yrs ago when I worked for a certain chain, we had free health screenings and mammograms offered to us every year. A van would be in the parking lot all day and employees could see the doctor for blood draws, vision checks, ekgs, etc. To my knowledge, the results of this screening were released only to the employee and his/her doctor (with a signed release). The objection to the CVS “plan” is that it is not voluntary or private no matter how you dress it up. The big question here is “what’s next?” What other risk factors will be considered? Ethnicity? Family history? Zip code? Genetic testing? Take your pick.

  3. On HLN it was noted ‘according to CVS, the info is voluntary, however, if the employee refuses to disclose their weight and other health info, they will be charged 600.00 more per year on their health insurance. Sounds like if you’re considered ‘fat’ by CVS you might kiss your job good bye

  4. Yeah and if they really cared about our health maybe they would give us a proper meal break so we could actually consume a healthy meal during a 14 hour shift.
