ANCHORAGE (KTUU) Cathy Therrien is a breast cancer survivor who’s undergone four surgeries and lives with constant pain.
She says her bones rub against each other and she relies on opioid based prescriptions to control her pain.
But, recently Therrien’s prescription was denied by several pharmacies.

The future will see an about-face on the policys surrounding pain meds. But not until the death rates of pain patients rise to untenable rates, higher than overdoses from addicts not related to pain. The process will be agonizingly slow, with death rate causes by suicides whi h are caused by undertreated, or just no treatment, which is already happening. There has to be recognition of the people who have chronic pain which pain meds are the only thing that can let them lead somewhat normal lives, oposed to those who use this medication for the “high”. I have not felt “high” from pain meds. Just a little blessed relief.
My pain condition has lasted well over 25 years, yet my pain meds usage has gone down. So at times the pain is severe, but I try to stay active. I can’t imagine being taken off pain medication all together. Would have to consider the “s” word. This is insanity. But I have to believe the facts will eventually sink in, and “they” will find a middle ground. Right now we are headed in an extreme direction, and should be ashamed with this downward spiral. How many deaths will it take?
More stories like this need to be seen by the public. Maybe then everyone will realize this could be them!! It is OUTRAGEOUS that this is happening in the United States in the year 2017!! In this day and age,
