That time of year again

flushot

September 30th is generally consider the last day of the “early flu vaccination season”… it takes abt TWO WEEKS for a person’s immune system to “crank up”…  after getting vaccinated.  While flu vaccine is not always PERFECT… this year there is a new quadrivalent vaccine …previously the vaccine was TRIvalent… containing only three different flu strains instead of the four different strains in the new vaccine… meaning that there is a higher probability of being effective.  The CDC recommends that everyone SIX MONTHS and older should get vaccinated… Previously, there was a nasal spray for “kids” but that has proven to be less than effective and has been discontinued.  Those of you who are suffering from auto immune health issues… need this vaccination even more than others.. The CDC claims that up to 49 THOUSAND people die from catching the flu each year.  Most health insurance pays 100% for the cost of the flu vaccine …so see your local friendly pharmacist or your doctor soon !

  1. Even if I wanted to take a flu vaccine I certainly wouldn’t have it done at a pharmacy!
