Can you trust anyone.. if you can’t trust a physician’s office’s word ?

This pt was moving from one state to another and had called ahead and made an appt with a new doctor explaining what meds she had been on… apparently one week before the appt and the pt would be out of meds and into withdrawal… the doctor’s office called and told the pt that she would not be accepted as a new pt.  A form of GENOCIDE in America ?

  1. Almost this very thing happened with me. My wife works in the casino industry and she was transferred from a casino in Michigan to Southwest Louisiana. Before we moved I attempted to make an appointment with a pain management specialist in Lafayette, La. and was told that I needed a referral so I had my specialist from Michigan attempt to refer me to this new doctor only to be told then that they will not accept a referral from another pain doctor. You have to be f-ing kidding! Who do they want to refer me, Doctor Suss? After several frustrating calls I finally did find a doctor but what a bunch of BS!
I have a total of 11 bulging and herniated disks along with diabetic nerve pain in my legs and feet, cervical nerve damage that effects both arms and hands and chronic headaches due to the neck injury. It took my doctor almost 2 years of injections, a spinal cord stimulator in both my neck and lower back and hit and miss drug testing to find a cocktail that works efficiently enough for me to be able to get off the couch for more than an hour or so. But now I have to explain to the new doctor why it works. I really thought that’s what medical records are for??? I mean damn, I’m being treated with Norco 325mg 10mg 2 pills 3 times a day, 800mg Ibuprofen, 800mg Gabapentin and .5 Xanax once a day. This is what works and this is what I need, but of course the new doctor wants to lower my dosage on both the Norco and the Xanax because he thinks he knows what is best. Why do they all have to get in a pissing match when you change doctors? My specialist up north has been practicing in this field for over 35 years and is one of the most respected pain specialists in the Midwest. Before him I had been to 5 other doctors who misdiagnosed me and poked, prodded and sent more voltage thru my body than a death row inmate gets when executed in the chair. Honestly I think that they did more damage to me then the actual injury did.
The new doctor kept pointing at his Board Certifications and Diplomas on the wall of his office telling me that he’s the man now, Damn I’m amazed that his head fit through the door as swelled as it was. I just told him that eventually he’ll just realize that I’m not an addict seeking drugs but a legitimate pain patient because I don’t need nor do I want anything stronger, I simply want what works so I can live life with a hint of relief. I’ve learned to live with the pain I have on these meds and the warmer climate seems to help also but living in the pain without the meds would be impossible and if he tries to take me off of them I have no problem moving back to Michigan.
